The Out of Bounds Venus of Bjork🎼

An out of bounds planet is one that beyond the limits of the Sun. The Sun is authority. It is intellect. It has rules & guidelines and so when you think of an out of bounds planet in a person's chart, you are thinking of people who experience a planet like Venus in Capricorn the same as everyone else, but there is a sense of being over the top, ahead of their time, strange, or "too much".

I think declination is important, but what is it? Think of the plane of the Earth's equator and then project that into the sky. We call that the celestial equator. Declination is the measurement of how far a planet is north or south from the celestial equator. Even though the planets are on the same plane of the Sun, there is a variation of how far each planet is north or south of the Sun. The Sun's declination on the celestial equator depends on the time of year, but generally speaking the Sun can only reach 23.5 N and 23.5S, any planet outside of those numbers is considered to be out of bounds.

Not only did I find this so interesting, but as an astrologer, taking into consideration of an out of bounds planets adds nuance to how you delineate configurations/aspects when looking at the details of someone's life. Is it something YOU need to do? Absolutely not. Is it interesting? FUCK YES!

Below I have a chart of Bjork an icelandic singer, songwriter, composer, record producer, and actress, but first I wanted to show you her planet's declination to get a full picture of what we are looking at. Bjork has an out of bounds Mars, Mercury, and Venus, but, today we are only going to talk about her Venus. ❤️

Traditional significations of Venus say that Venus stands for beauty, purity, cleansliness, desire and love. These are all great things, but as Tony Howard states, when you have Venus out of bounds, there can be a sense of the person being above the curve in a graph, extreme, unchecked, and peculiar. It's like the extraterrestrial aesthetic. It's like looking at something beautiful, yet not being able to recreate it because it is something too out of the box, against the grain, and different than societal norms.

When you experience someone with a Venus out of bounds, this person might not even notice their unbounded traits. That is just who they are. That is just their experience, and although YOU might feel guilt, shame, or retribution, this person simply doesn't and if they do, they just don't care lol. Now if this isn't a superpower.

In 2001, Bjork walked the red carpet in an ICONIC swan dress that was inspired as a tribute to Busby Berkeley. I like to think of Venus as the planet of fashion, fabric, design. While most fashion is predicated off looks that are devoid of any social meaning by definition. Bjork wore a dress with the head of a swan and it grew with great controversy especially when it laid an egg which most found distasteful and an atrocity beyond their time. Sadly, this made it on the 'worst dressed' list. In most recent news, this dress has made it's way into exhibition celebrating young London-based designers 22 years later.

So you can kind of get a sense of this idea of having a tendency to go beyond what is natural order in society.

Below is Bjorks birth chart. She has an out of bounds Venus in the 3rd house. She began her music career just at the age of 11 and most popularly is known for her eclectic music style. Her first hit was called, "Army of Me", in which was a unique tribute to her brother (3rd house) about his damaging behavior and how he needed to regain his life back. I highly suggest listening to her music to understand how odd sounding it is compared to most music. In her 2011 single, Moon, with the help of 4 harpists, she created a song that repeats sequences that resemble the lunar cycles. I found this super interesting as Venus is posited in the house that the moon finds joy and the 3rd house is how we communicate, our siblings, our initial environment. In an interview Bjork explains and says, "With each new moon we complete a cycle and are offered renewal —to take risks, to connect with other people, to love, to give. The symbolism of the moon as the realm of imagination, melancholy, and regeneration is expressed in the song."

In my opinion, out of bounds planets, existing beyond the confines of the Sun, grant a profound sense of liberation and possibly the feeling of being unconventionally quirky. With an out of bounds Venus it represents a planet that transcends the ordinary rules, akin to an artist boldly coloring outside the lines just to create something different or piss other's off. Individuals with out of bounds planets may actually face external constraints attempting to suppress the significance of these celestial influences, prompting a rebellious spirit. While others may cast judgment on their distinctive style and choices, those with out of bounds planets are adept at deflecting such criticism, choosing not to internalize opinions that diverge from their unique essence. Instead, they find themselves contemplating the perspectives of those who pass judgment, wondering about the origins of such assessments and their conditioned beliefs. Bjork is a clear example and I think demonstrates the essence of planets out of bounds when you look deeper.
