Venus the lesser benefic is described as moderately cold and moist with qualities that are about connection, receptivity, friendship, magnetism, binding, and fertility. Marsilio Ficino, the Renaissance philosopher and astrologer, emphasized her virtues, writing: "For Venus is very good for a healthy and prosperous life, since she makes a man fruitful and happy; therefore you will observe her." (Three Books on Life, Book III, Chapter VI). In this light, Venus is not merely about love or pleasure, but a force of harmony that encourages life to bloom in both body and spirit. I called unto Venus using all her names & I petitioned Venus for love, sex, money, and friendship.

Agrippa says the incense of Venus is "musk, ambergris, lignum-aloes, red roses, [and such] flowers such as roses, violets, saffron and such like..." "The Sparrow also was dedicated to Venus, which was Commanded in the Law to be used in the purification, after the Leprosie, a martiall disease, then which nothing was of more force to resist it."
